Ok now tell me if I am being a big boobed bitch here but when I saw this picture of Zoe Saldana, who has been announced as the latest face (or lady lumps should I say) for Calvin Klein I was a little amused. I then went on to read how she has such great curves and I did literally spit and sprayed my desk with the decaf latte I was drinking out of sheer shock. Zoe is a beautiful and talented actress (loved her as the saucy female pirate in 'Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl') but curves she ain’t got and it’s a bit scary to live in a world where she is described as curvy.
Now as you all know I have the biggest boobs known to man and womankind. I live in a big boobed world, my 2 huge bad boys are a gift and a curse with back pain, limited clothing options and everyday I try and avoid being sexual assaulted. However, buses and taxi drivers always stop for me- swings and round abouts, right?
It does piss me off that those with the smallest boobs get great frilly sexy lingerie (maybe they need more help in the seduction department) just whipping mine out seem to do the trick. My bras should be packed for black Ops Jason Bourne style survival kits, to be used as a make shift emergency jungle shelter.
Zoe is fab but she ain't no Latin goddess like Eva Mendes or is this a good thing? Am I being an inverted body fascist snob because I want to see some more junk in the trunk? Is it good for my small boobed sisters to have her as a role model, just as I think it's important to have curvy big boobed women in the media? I would love to know what you all think.
Hi Ateh, your post really struck a chord with me! I too have big boobs that would make Russ Meyer come back from the dead - even Bravissimo don't cater to me! I have no problem with skinny girls like Zoe Saldana and Rosie Huntington-Whitely looking good in pictorials - but they do seem to be the only beauty ideals out there - so no I don't feel you are being an inverse snob - there is no such thing as one 'right' kind of beauty and in the media we only get fed images of petite women and to be honest I think both men and women can cope with more 'junk in the trunk'!
ReplyDeleteAnd I would give anything to have more 'junk in the trunk'. I was happy enough with my very average size boobs and then the kids came along and they are disappeared altogether! But Calvin Klein underwear is, as I remember from my teenage years, absolutely tiny so maybe I am now their ideal customer!
ReplyDeletethanks for your comment 賴鄭富鑫善帆 the translation is ............
ReplyDelete"What a lovely night all the best"
thanks for the comment English Rose !
ReplyDeleteLoved your post today- -I totally agree, you can’t call this curvey!!!!!!! Horrendously inaccurate use of the word- bad script from the pr!!!
ReplyDeleteOtherwise, quite like the fact that they are small- makes me feel a little less inadequate as they are usually such perfect c//d cups.
Go Ateh- as ever you took the words right out of my mouth.
Calling someone curvy to me would suggest that they have bigger breasts and or hips/butt than average. It's quite clear that gorgeous though Zoe Saldana is, this isn't the case for her XD
ReplyDeleteOf course I don't think there's anything wrong with being slender, all body types have their own beauty, but it just seems inaccurate, just as I wouldn't call myself delicate when selfridges pats itself on the back for deciding to stock one bra I can buy (and then goes on about the freakness of that. thanks guys!)
